
Mediation Sub Committee
Mediation is increasingly recognised as a strategic tool in complex disputes, not simply as an alternative to litigation but as a proactive pathway to resolution, preserving relationships and enabling tailored outcomes. The Mediation Sub Committee of the International Chamber of Commerce's (ICC) Israel National Arbitration Committee was established in November 2025. The Committee serves as the focal point for advancing and promoting international commercial mediation practices within Israel and acts as a dynamic platform for Israeli mediation practitioners to gain visibility, representation, and opportunities for collaboration on the global stage. The Committee is co-chaired by Adv. Hagit Shaked-Gvili and Adv. Sarit Leviathan, who assumed this role upon its establishment. Under their leadership, the Committee continues to advance and promote international commercial mediation practices within Israel, aligning with the International Chamber of Commerce's mission to facilitate global trade and investment. Aligned with the ICC mission to facilitate global trade and investment in accordance with the ICC’s global standards, this Committee engages Israeli businesses, legal practitioners, and stakeholders in adopting and implementing world-class effective mediation practice, either as an integral part of the ICC arbitration procedure, or as an alternative dispute resolution mechanisms. Further, through its initiatives, the Sub Committee empowers Israeli mediators to engage with international peers, contribute to global discourse, and ensure that the Israeli perspective is represented in worldwide mediation forums and developments


Key Functions of the Mediation Committee
Policy Development: The Committee collaborates with the ICC's global network to develop and refine policies that enhance the mediation framework in Israel, ensuring alignment with international standards and best practices. Educational Initiatives: Through organizing seminars, workshops, and conferences, the Committee educates the Israeli business and legal communities about the benefits and procedures of ICC mediation, fostering a deeper understanding of international dispute resolution. Nomination of Mediators: In coordination with the ICC International Centre for ADR (Alternative Dispute Resolution), the Committee proposes qualified Israeli professionals to serve as mediators, enhancing the representation of Israeli expertise in international mediation proceedings. Supporting Academic Excellence in International Mediation: The Mediation Committee empowers Israeli academic partners in the mediation field by promoting and assisting their participation in international mediation competitions and conferences.

Consultation and Support
The committee provides guidance to Israeli entities on navigating the ICC mediation process, offering insights and resources to effectively manage cross-border disputes.
By fulfilling these roles, the Mediation Committee of the ICC Israel National Committee plays a pivotal role in integrating Israeli mediation practices into the global arena, thereby supporting the country's economic growth and international business relationships.

Adv. Hagit Shaked
Motivated by a deep love for conflict resolution and a strong sense of purpose, Adv. Hagit Shaked has been dedicated to the field of ADR since 1998.
As a Senior Fellow at the Weinstein International Foundation’s JAMS Program (2010- today) and a former partner at A. Gabrieli & Co. Law Firm (2013-2020), she participated in international commercial mediations and arbitrations involving complex, multi-party disputes.
Her work as a Research Fellow at the Stanford University Center on Conflict Resolution and Negotiation (California, USA) deepened her academic and comparative understanding of dispute resolution in high-stakes business matters.
For more than two decades, Adv. Shaked has resolved a wide range of civil and commercial disputes as both an arbitrator and mediator. As one of the pioneers of ADR in Israel, she founded and managed the Dispute Resolution Departments at the Tel Aviv District Courts.
Adv. Shaked has been consistently recognized in recent years as one of Israel’s leading ADR practitioners by Dun’s 100.
Alongside her work as an arbitrator and mediator, Adv. Shaked shares her experience and knowledge by lecturing at conferences and professional forums in Israel and abroad. As part of her community contribution, she currently serves voulanteralyvh as the Chairwoman of the Board of the Conscious Leadership Association.

Adv. Sarit Leviathan
Sarit Leviathan brings to the mediation room over 25 years of legal experience in Corporate, Securities, and Commercial Law. Her professional background as a partner and senior attorney for more than 15 years at Goldfarb Gross Zeligman & Co. (formerly Gross, Hodak & Co.) provides a solid foundation for Mrs. Leviathan mediation practice.
Throughout Adv. Leviathan legal career as a commercial attorney and legal counsel, she has advised numerous boards of directors and management teams in various transactions, debt and equity offerings, litigation proceeding and regulatory processes before various authorities.
Sarit experience as a law firm partner, Deputy CEO, senior executive, and Chief Legal Counsel at various public companies, including as CLO of the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange Ltd. (TASE), enables her to deeply understand the needs, interests, and complexities of corporate and business environments.
Sarit Leviathan currently lecture in Lahav Executive Education, Tel Aviv University School of Management, and at the Faculty of Law at Bar-Ilan University. She serves as a member of the Executive Board and Board of Trustees of the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance, and as Chairperson of the Academy’s Circle of Friends for Dance.
